Due to the impact of COVID-19, Capital Litigation Committee meet virtually through online conference software at bimonthly intervals. These meetings are ongoing and are intended to touch base with members, get updates about their respective jurisdictions, allow committee members to flag trends and troubleshoot issues, and determine future programming. These meetings also serve some of the function that in-person meetings would have covered, such as planning future TTA and conference/training events. These meetings have continued since emerging from the pandemic and are now a permanent feature of APA's CCLI programming.

Sent email to the Capital Litigation Committee (composed of those elected prosecutors from various capital case jurisdictions around the country) to determine when the best time to host the first virtual touch-base call would be. Included details on call and possible times/dates. Committee members responded with feedback on scheduling.
Hosted the first virtual meeting in response to COVID-19 need to conduct remote meetings. This series of meetings will serve as interim meetings until we are able to resume in-person activities. About half of the committee members were able to attend this call.
Due to COVID, we anticipate that attendees will have varying degrees of availability over the next few months. We do not expect committee "quorum" during these virtual calls.
Planned and held Second Capital Litigation virtual Committee Meeting. Committee members agreed to have meetings be bimonthly in nature from now on. Discussed topics such as COVID situation, future programming, and future training topics. Lasted one hour. Scheduled next meeting at the end of this meeting.
Bimonthly virtual call planned in September to be held in November before the Thanksgiving holiday. This Zoom meeting served as a check-in with committee members. Topics of discussion generally included pandemic updates such as jury trial status and caseload, proposed topics for presentations like webinars, and whether or not it was feasible at this stage to host any in-person events in 2021 (in coordination with the guidance provided by BJA to hold off on in-person events at this time). The consensus was that no jurisdiction had the capacity to consider in-person events like conferences for 2021 for the foreseeable future. The next meeting will be held after the holidays in January 2021.
