This virtual workshop is designed to assist staff who have roles and responsibilities for PREA implementation in their facilities. The goal of this workshop is to give attendees implementation guidance on four challenging PREA standards and learn ways to overcome these challenges and successfully implement these protocols.
During the training, we will focus on PREA Standards 115.16 (Inmates w/disabilities), 115.31 (Employee Training), 115.33 (Inmate education), and 115.53 (Access to Outside Confidential Support Services). Together, we will explore
the purpose and intent of these standards, implementation challenges, best practices, common audit issues, applicable FAQ?s, and practical PREA in action examples. We will also discuss helpful resources developed by PRC, JDI and Vera to assist agencies with implementing or enhancing these protocols within their agencies/facilities. Presenters will consist of subject matter experts from the National PREA Resource Center (PRC), Just Detention International (JDI), and the Vera Institute of Justice.

Due to Covid, the 2021 AJA Conference was held via virtual platform. PRC, JDI and Vera staff pre-recorded the workshop presentation and during the actual conference, participated in a virtual Q/A session following the workshop presentation. 178 attendees viewed the workshop presentation.
