Additional Info

COVID-19 effectively shut down jury trials in our jurisdiction for the better part of a year. The case load of the office did not decrease accordingly (crime did not stop). The number of new cases has outpaced the number of trials and other dispositional hearings, creating a backlog of dockets.

Additionally, with the increased use of body worn cameras by law enforcement, and the recent mandate by the State of Illinois that all law enforcement agencies implement body worn cameras, there has (and will continue to be) a large influx of electronic discovery, and it has been a challenge managing and efficiently disclosing all of the discovery
