Because this activity is ongoing throughout the project, the LCCL wanted to share an update on activities to date. A key accomplishment during Q6 has been the successful execution of six productive planning sessions with our esteemed community partners. Notably, our collaboration with Johanna Leal of the Alliance for Community and Justice Innovation resulted in the establishment of group agreements that emphasize a high level of commitment and collaboration on joint projects. These agreements have effectively guided our collaborative efforts and fostered positive working relationships among our diverse community partners.

Our working sessions have proved to be highly insightful and productive. The session held on 1/23/24 at Blair Caldwell African-American Research Library was especially significant as it focused on defining collective sovereignty and establishing a collective definition of collaboration. Through engaging exercises and open discussions, we identified effective communication, mutual respect, and understanding as essential elements of successful collaboration. These insights have laid a solid foundation for our ongoing work. Moreover, we have actively sought to engage our stakeholders in our initiatives, giving careful consideration to their involvement and concerns. The inclusion of their voices has provided us with vital perspectives that have influenced our decision-making process.

In a survey of the three community partners, LCCL asked how satisfied they are with our facilitation to evolve collaborations and partnerships. Two reported being "very satisfied" and one reported being "extremely satisfied" (rankings of 4 and 5 on a scale of 5 respectively). When asked about the timeliness of this facilitation, two were "satisfied" and one was "extremely satisfied". Asked if they had increased the effectiveness of their own collaborations and partnerships as a result of LCCL facilitation, all three reported "very much" increasing their effectiveness (a ranking of 4 out of 5).

In Q7, (May 2024) the LCCL, Alliance for Community and Justice Innovation (ACJI)I, and Firearm Violence Prevention Initiative at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (FIPI) co-organized our first Community Advisory Group (CAG) meeting. We discussed plans to implement new strategies to tackle community violence in the summer of 2024. The session began with an introspective question to all attendees: "What do you DO?" This question set the stage for each member to articulate their specific role within the organization, detailing their specialization and what makes their approach unique in its contributions to the community violence interruption ecosystem. As the discussion deepened, the focus shifted to the core community served by the CAG. Members enumerated the core services provided by their organizations, and reaffirmed the alignment between their capabilities and the community's needs, ensuring their efforts are as impactful as possible. The conversation evolved into a strategic discussion about recommendations and action steps for preventing summer community violence in 2024. This collaborative effort encouraged all stakeholders to brainstorm and propose methods for enhancing our current strategies. The goal was to develop a comprehensive, collaborative approach that not only addresses immediate concerns but also contributes to long-term community resilience against violence. The session wrapped up with a forward-looking focus, contemplating "what comes next for us—individually, organizationally, and collaboratively." The CAG plans to regroup in September 2024 to discuss their summer and next steps.

LCCL facilitated numerous cohort based meetings in Q8 and Q9. These included training and working sessions specifically for the CVIPI field. One training delved into the intricacies of "Street Intervention." Participants, consisting of outreach workers and violence interrupters, engaged deeply in understanding their critical roles in violence intervention. Through scenario discussions, attendees practiced detection and response tactics for violent events, solidifying their ability to mediate conflicts with a nuanced approach.

Another training shifted focus towards trauma-sensitive methodologies and explored the neurological triggers of escalation and de-escalation, fostering a better understanding of how to manage these dynamics in the field. Additionally, the session emphasized the importance of preventing compassion fatigue and incorporating self-care and stress management into professional routines. Techniques for conducting transformative conversations in challenging environments were also shared to address the behavioral and emotional needs of the communities served. This day was pivotal in enhancing team wellness and leadership effectiveness, ensuring that our partners are skilled, resilient, and empathetic in their roles.

The CAG continues its convening while an offsite quarterly meeting provided the CVIPI community partners the opportunity to address collaboration and team cohesion in a safe space and outside the daily stressors of "the street" and workplace, an evidence-informed practice for the CVIPI field described further in the semi-annual narrative report.
