The PCITI Level 1 training covers standard operating procedures and protocols for safe
street outreach and violence interruption along with instruction in effective operations.
Their curriculum culminates in a comprehensive training and certification for community
based public safety professionals and administrators. During two 3-day training
sessions, the violence intervention training provides extensive opportunities for
participants to apply new knowledge through scenario-based learning. Some
subgrantees may require PCITI Level 2 training which addresses issues of trauma,
self‐care, and healing, alongside protocols for responding to more complex crises.
Please check the box next to the following questions if the answer is 'yes'.
The significance of PCITI’s diverse participants cannot be overstated. Not only does PCITI present frontline intervention workers with practical protocols for engaging in highly charged situations, their training also covers the spectrum of public safety professionals, including training for police and fire departments. PCITI is recognized globally, nationally, and locally as the only standardized curriculum training that is delivered across communities and academic disciplines. PCITI components have been integrated into university courses in the fields of psychology, sociology, social welfare, and criminal justice. PCITI is recognized by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Office of Violence Prevention, as a foundational requirement for leadership in the community violence intervention space.
