During this reporting period, the coach has been in regular contact with Maine DOC. As mentioned in previous reports, the agency has had turnover in the PREA Coordinator position in the last year. The agency appointed an interim PC, but they did not want to make changes to the grant without the permanent PC being in place. A permanent PC was soon appointed and the interim and the new PC seemed poised to quickly move the grant along. For example, they got a translation of the PRC intake video done for those who speak Somali. Since then the agency has been trying to decide how to reallocate the remaining $60K before the grant closes in March 2025. During coaching calls, the coaches have talked with the PC about ways to use the funds, providing resources and recommendations, but no decisions have been made and it feels like they are not open to the coaches' suggestions and feedback. The site intends to submit for a second No Cost Extension (NCE) and while there is good reason to grant the second NCE given the abovementioned turnover, the coaches were clear that a NCE will not be granted just because there are funds to be spent, and they need to settle on an implementation plan.
