During the reporting period, the team reviewed and discussed sections of their PREA audit interim report. Rockford Sexual Assault Counseling (RSAC) staff provided training to RSAC about their role in the community and the services provided under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The telephones in holding can call the assigned PREA reporting numbers. Hiring staff is a priority to address shortages in supervision. WCJDC direct supervision staff were approved for a pay raise and adjustments to the bachelor's degree requirement were made. The team discussed their non-compliance with staffing ratios. The Administrative Office of Illinois Courts (AOIC) assessed the housing units and staffing plan on October 15, 2024. The AOIC shared some ideas to meet the direct supervision requirements after their on-site tour. A request was submitted to add staff to the budget or lower the capacity of the facility. Forty-six staff are needed to be compliant with PREA 115.313. There are currently thirty-eight. The agency contracted with Translate Live and will be training staff on how and when to use translation services. The following staff PREA trainings were conducted during the quarter:
PREA Comprehensive Training for new staff
PREA Staff Response/Coordinated Response
Resident PREA education continues to be provided to all residents.
The Universal Shift Report/Assignments Form was implemented. The PREA risk screening tool was updated to show the residents preferred language. The training acknowledgement was updated to state staff received and understood the PREA training. The team reviewed and discussed a recent PREA investigation stemming from a resident call to the hotline. Related PREA Standards were reviewed and discussed. An MOU with the sheriff's department is in progress and includes a request to follow uniform evidence protocol.
