I am requesting training assistance with respect to the Cellebrite forensic software package, which allows for forensically sound retrieval of digital data from cellphones, tablets, and other digital devices. The proliferation of cell phone involvement in criminal offenses ( either used or possessed by perpetrators during the commission of the offense, or stolen during the offense necessitates a significant expansion of the Department's capabilities with the recovery of this data, and a significant expansion of properly trained and certified personnel using the equipment already on hand. The training and certification is only available through the vendor, Cellebrite. I am requesting training assistance for

How do you anticipate that the requested assistance will address the problems?
Proper examination of digital devices is a technical skill which requires specialized training and certification in the use of specialized software in order to ensure that legally seized information can be admitted into evidence in a criminal proceeding. The requested training will ensure that personnel receive consistent training and industry recognized certifications in the proper use of our chosen software package.
