In preparation for the 2017 Tribal Healing to Wellness Court Enhancement Training, a call for workshop proposals and a call for exhibitors was sent out, including to partnering technical assistance providers and past Enhancement Training attendees. As part of planning efforts, the conference website was transferred over from enhtraining.tlpi.org to www.EnhancementTraining.org. All past training materials from 2012-2016 remain available on both www.EnhancementTraining.org and www.WellnessCourts.org.
After ten weeks, the call for workshop proposals closed.
In compiling the workshop proposals received, as well as notes from previous trainings and other comments regarding the desired content, TLPI set the agenda. This included contacting each workshop proposal and verifying their participation, and contacting other desired speakers to verify their availability.
In preparation for the Enhancement Training, conference approval was sought from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance. Once approval was obtained, a contract with the hosting hotel was signed and registration was opened. Registration was free. In the meantime, contact was made with all presenters to ensure all materials were finalized and submitted to TLPI in time to upload materials to the website. Additionally, TLPI finalized all conference printed materials and resources.
TLPI staff Lauren van Schilfgaarde, Jerry Gardner, Kori Cordero, Marlon Footracer, and Heather Torres, in partnership with volunteers, and TLPI consultants, including Carrie Garrow, Charlene Jackson, Mark Panasiewicz, and Kristina Pacheco, as well as our numerous training and technical assistance partners like Children and Family Futures and Center for Court Innovation, as well as our other presenters, including the Ho Chunk Nation, the Colorado River Indian Tribes, the Northern Cheyenne Tribe, and the Pueblo of Laguna, hosted the 2017 Tribal Healing to Wellness Court Enhancement Training. All training materials were uploaded to www.WellnessCourts.org and www.EnhancementTraining.org. In addition, TLPI distributed copies of our main publications, including 75 copies of the Tribal key Components, 50 copies of the Overview, 10 copies of the Policies and Procedures, and 75 copies of the Judicial Bench Book.
TLPI finalized all Enhancement Training follow-up, including collecting and inputting evaluations, sending out all CLE information, sending out certificates of attendance, and posting all training materials on www.WellnessCourts.org and www.EnhancementTraining.org.
