Overview

James A. Rhodes State College is developing a new approach - the Education, Communication, Assessment, Intervention, and Protection Plan - to preventing an active shooter that will research current effective strategies from other successful programs and develop education, communication, screening, assessment, and violence prevention strategies to address the threat of an active shooter on college campuses. Other models tend to be reactive in addressing active shooters. This project seeks to be proactive by focusing on a preventative approach to the active shooter and will put in place actions that will enhance the current national standard on how to respond to an active shooter.
