Strategic Planning

When risk factors affect the health, safety and quality of life; it takes a community response to positively impact change. Successful IASAP planning requires interagency cooperation and community member involvement. Interagency cooperation and community involvement in problem identification and development of effective strategies are significant for making changes and improvements. This training is designed to help executive teams develop and implement comprehensive interagency action plans based on community needs.

Sponsored by the National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA) and the IJIS Institute (IJIS), the National Forum on Criminal Justice showcases programs, research and technologies that help justice practitioners and decision makers in states, local communities and tribal nations address pressing public safety issues. It is the only criminal justice conference that brings together leaders from federal, state, local and tribal government and the public and private sector to share real world strategies and solutions from around the country.

This onsite meeting is part of ongoing training and technical assistance under the Strategic Planning TTA Project. A lengthy planning meeting held with MD SAA Director Glenn Fueston, Chief of Staff Vanessa Lyon and Special Assistance Sarah Myers. The Maryland Governor's Office of Crime Control (GOCC) had begun several initiatives to move towards data driven decision making to include creation of a data dashboard for all grants administered by their agency. The state has made very preliminary steps towards NIBRS compliance to include nearly $2M in funding for MDTs to the state police.

Strategic Planning mentors will facilitate a meeting with project coordinators and planning team to explain the project and deliverables

TJSPP Mentor wil assist the tribe with their tribal justice system strategic plan. Assistance consists of email and phone communication and plan review/feedback.

TJSPP Mentors will facilitate Phase one and two of the Tribal Justice System Planning Process curriculum. Grantees and mentors will work on developing their justice system strategic plan.
