Certification course to investigate officer involved critical incidents
The Johnson County Attorney’s Office (JCAO) would like a consultant to audit their current communications activities and suggest new strategies for reaching the goal of increased confidence in the criminal justice system. Effective communication strategies promote community participation in public safety campaigns. JCAO seeks a multi-pronged communication strategy incorporating social media, traditional media, community engagement, and a plan for website improvement.
The St. Louis County LEAD Team would like the National LEAD Support Bureau to come to St. Louis and do training for law enforcement.
The request is prompted by the Supreme Court decision about concealed carry for weapons. Hawaii has always had very restricted gun laws, never concealed carry. The department is trying to figure out both on the political front and police department front how to get into compliance. Looking for assistance with processing current backlog of about 900 permits. Need to put everything together into a shared database. Is there a federal database that the requestor needs to be interfacing with? Are there federal rules?
Work with a consultant to provide the following support:
-Review existing practices and continuum of programs/interventions in place.
-Plan and deliver baseline educational event around evidence-based practice in prosecution, sentencing, and supervision of justice-involved individuals with substance abuse issues.
-Guide stakeholders, through an onsite focus group, in strategizing, developing, and implementing an evidence-based system practice or program.
-Assist agency and stakeholders in designing outcomes to measure effectiveness of system practice or program.
As noted previously, PCE conducted a productive site visit last December. The results of the report are forthcoming. We understand from discussions with PCE recommendations relate to restructuring, overhauling our intake system, and rebalancing our office-wide workload responsibilities. While we understand these recommendations in concept, help from PCE to implement these recommendations is requested.
The LEAD Program would like to get feedback from the LEAD National Support Bureau on our current program. The LEAD NSB can give on-site feedback on our operations to assist us in making improvements and identifying gaps.
Training for law enforcement professionals and public safety organizations throughout the state. Request on-site instructor training covering the following areas: Evolution of community policing; Past, present, and future concepts of community policing; Ethical dilemmas in community policing; Rebuilding trust in the community.
Training for leadership staff within our agency and other public safety organizations throughout the state. Request on-site instructor training covering the following areas: Development of succession planning; How succession planning and recruitment / retention are related; Examples of well thought out succession plans; Skills required to plan successfully.
Enhancement training for Field Training Officers (FTO) throughout the state. Request on-site training covering the following areas: Discussion on the roles of the FTO and integration into the leadership team; FTO as a trainer and evaluator; The FTO as a leader in the organization; FTO as a coach and mentor; Training and accountability.
