The SAFLEO Program staff convened a panel of chaplains and other faith-based support providers from various law enforcement agencies and other resources to discuss the wellness challenges and needs for faith-based support providers. On September 26, 2023, the SAFELO team facilitated a second virtual meeting to identify potential strategies for the previously identified challenges.

On August 29, 2023, SAFLEO facilitated the first call to identify the broad challenges and barriers to mental health and wellness as well as potential strategies to address those challenges.

Policing requires officers to be awake at all hours, and combined with staffing shortages and increased operational demands, the job leaves many cops chronically fatigued. The problem is, fatigue is a major risk factor for motor vehicle collisions and compromises critical decision-making capacity. This workshop will discuss fatigue-related risks and explore how executives can implement restorative rest and fatigue management policies to improve the safety and performance of their officers.

This hour-long training will discuss the practice and implementation of near-miss reporting as it pertains to law enforcement, as well as tenets of the National Law Enforcement Roadway Safety Program.

NLERSP Train-the-Trainer (In Person) - Missouri Safety Center/ KCPD

Missouri POST Accredited! Lead your agency in roadway safety. Provide roadway safety training to your agency. Attend this 8-hour course where trainers will be given the resources and skills needed to teach the NLERSP training curriculum to other officers during academy or in-service training. Prerequisite: Trainers must complete the Roadway Safety for Patrol Officers course prior to attending this course.
