Crime is evolving rapidly, creating new challenges for law enforcement agencies. By using computers, communications platforms, and other technologies, criminals commit crimes that were unheard of a decade or two ago, while also finding different ways to commit traditional crimes. For law enforcement agencies to keep up in this new environment, they must change their approach to criminal investigations. Physical evidence and witness statements are no longer sufficient in many cases.

Sustaining effective, innovative, and evidence-based strategies is the cornerstone for Smart Prosecution practices. This webinar will highlight key elements for developing sustainment strategies, including: identifying principles for sustainability; creating meaningful partnerships; understanding the importance of engaging state administrative agencies; and identifying common challenges to program sustainment.

The Center for Evidence-Based Crime Policy (CEBCP), in collaboration with WestEd’s Justice & Prevention Research Center, will hold its next Congressional Briefing on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Rayburn House Building at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. CEBCP’s Congressional Briefings provide research evidence on various topics in an accessible format.

RAND plans to conduct the fourth in-person meeting of the Criminal Justice Technology Forecasting Group. This meeting will focus on addressing the top two topics for follow-on research from prior CJTFG meetings: identifying the most promising emerging technologies for sharing and using information, and determining top business cases for sharing information across the criminal justice enterprise.

On Tuesday, June 14, from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC) will host the webinar "Tips for Reporting on Training Performance Metrics". The webinar will review the performance metrics associated with training engagements in the BJA Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Reporting Portal, and offer tips for entering training activities and reporting training performance metrics thoroughly and accurately.
