Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities (TASC)

TASC, Inc. (Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities), is a not-for-profit organization that provides health recovery management services for individuals with substance use and mental health disorders. Since 1976, the organization has provided and/or facilitated access to community-based treatment and recovery support services for individuals who are involved in public systems such as criminal and juvenile justice, corrections, child welfare, public aid, and public housing.

Cape Coral PD requested training and technical assistance to develop and implement an opioid program. BJA NTTAC referred this request to the Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Program TTA provider, the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR).

The Cape Coral Police Department is seeking program development training and technical assistance to implement an opioid program. The Department would like to start with a self-referral program, and expand from there, connecting with the user at the hospital to get them linked to treatment. Obtaining policy and procedures from like agencies that have an opioid program in place would be a great start.
