This annual conference workshop will address short-term health and wellness needs by highlighting real-time resilience skills and how they can be applied to the current situation and beyond. This workshop will provide an overview of the VALOR Law Enforcement Resilience Training Program and provide skills demonstration that defines skills of the training, how they work, what the intended and experienced impacts are on wellness, and how to apply them. Panelists for the workshop will be selected from the pool of agency trainers from Norfolk and Lincoln
At the OSW Symposium in Miami representatives from the three pilot sites as well as the PENN team presented an overview of the resiliency training.
NACDL will conduct an in-person, one-day training for at least 150 defense attorneys on litigating post-conviction claims of innocence. The goal of this training is to increase the ability of attorneys representing individuals in post-conviction proceedings to efficiently and effectively evaluate and litigate cases involving claims of innocence.
The American Indian Justice Conference will provide training to tribal communities to enhance their response to alcohol and drug abuse, enable them to recognize how trauma impacts drug and alcohol abuse in tribal communities, and to identify current trends and best practices for tribal justice systems to strengthen multi-disciplinary approaches to healing and justice.
The conference will focus on the needs of jurisdictions responding to domestic violence cases. Experienced prosecutors and victim advocates will facilitate discussion and train participants on practical strategies and model policies in domestic violence prosecution. Prosecutors and victim advocates with all levels of experience are encouraged to attend.
This will be a regional capital litigation conference which will take place sometime in the early spring of 2021 due to COVID. This conference will include speakers, trainings, and other capital litigation-focused learning opportunities for prosecution teams around the country. This regional will be a co-sponsored event, in partnership with the Oklahoma District Attorneys Council, which is also hosting a death penalty training in 2021.
IACP hosted the FY18 Grantee Meeting in St. Louis. All FY18 sites were in attendance. The event contained Webinars, pannel discussions, and time for sites to meet and greet.
During the July - December 2019 reporting period, per guidance from BJA, IIR began extensive exploration of potential cities and facilities in which to hold the 2020 PSP Symposium. IIR conducted a widespread search of numerous PSP cities’ local hotels and convention centers for availability in September 2020, considering cost, accessibility, local transportation, number and size of meeting rooms, access to area restaurants, and more.
