This onsite meeting is part of ongoing training and technical assistance under the Strategic Planning TTA Project. A lengthy planning meeting held with MD SAA Director Glenn Fueston, Chief of Staff Vanessa Lyon and Special Assistance Sarah Myers. The Maryland Governor's Office of Crime Control (GOCC) had begun several initiatives to move towards data driven decision making to include creation of a data dashboard for all grants administered by their agency. The state has made very preliminary steps towards NIBRS compliance to include nearly $2M in funding for MDTs to the state police. Baltimore city is not using a progressive RMS and will be a focus of the coming year. Discussion of integration of NIBRS data with other LEO data collected by the agency to include UoF and ARD. There was a lengthy discusson of disparate planning efforts across multiple funding streams (VAWA, JAG, Title II). Working to develop overarching agency strategic plan and discussed opportunities to utilize TTA to integrate JAG planning within the larger context. Next steps include routine follow up and check in. The NCJA Project Management followed up the meeting to invite the SAA team to several two-day regional strategic planning trainings held in April, July and September 2018.
