NCJA’s Criminal Justice Executive Leadership Academy NCJA’s Criminal Justice Executive Leadership Academy is designed to provide State Administering Agency (SAA) and other criminal justice agency leaders and senior staff with the skills necessary to lead effectively, to enhance their capacity as administrators and to position their agency to address emerging justice system challenges. This 12-month intensive program offers group instruction, individualized coaching and networking with other program participants in executive leadership, personal and professional development, and explores topics ranging from criminal justice reform and development of community-based services, to ethics, policy development, strategic planning, performance management and grant administration. The monthly trainings will use a variety of adult learning techniques including in-person training, webinars, and conference calls. The Academy class size is limited to 15 participants with varying degrees of experience as an SAA, providing opportunities for peer-support, mentoring and individualized coaching.

This module, which focused on Engaging Nontraditional Stakeholders, was delivered on July 25, 2019 by webinar. During the one-hour event, participants learned about engagement strategies including focus groups, surveys, town hall meetings, etc.; considerations when working with local governments – i.e. governance, timelines; CJCCs – what are they and how to find, develop or partner with one; bringing CJS discussions to the business community; and behavioral health and other healthcare providers as partners for justice system programs.
