Shorewood PD in collaboration with the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Wisconsin is looking for training in officer/citizen encounters to cover aspects like current research about the threats to officer safety, keys to officer safety performance, communication, keeping contacts lawful, emotional intelligence, and adaptive decision making.
Young officers in Shorewood and Milwaukee County need training in citizen encounters. Police interactions with citizens are in the national spotlight. What previously wouldn’t have made the local paper now makes national news. Too many training courses today leave officers with the impression that they must choose between good officer safety and positive citizen contacts. What officers need are tools to effectively engage citizens in a professional manner without compromising their own safety in the process

By submitting this application to BJA NTTAC, I understand that upon approval of this application for TTA, the requestor agrees to keep BJA NTTAC informed of any circumstances that may impact the delivery of the TTA, including changes in the date of the event, event cancellation, or difficulties communicating with the assigned TTA provider.
