Enhancement training for Field Training Officers (FTO) throughout the state. Request on-site training covering the following areas: Discussion on the roles of the FTO and integration into the leadership team; FTO as a trainer and evaluator; The FTO as a leader in the organization; FTO as a coach and mentor; Training and accountability.
The Training Center offers an initial standardized Field Training Officer (FTO) course of instruction. Currently law enforcement field training programs are developed by each organization and may not offer any additional training for the FTO. With law enforcement agencies consistently being challenged by the expectations, pressures, and demands from both subordinates and their leadership it is imperative that our first line trainers are equipped with the skills to develop today’s officers. Training on how to recognize these unique challenges and develop solutions is needed.
