One way to promote a drug free community is to create more awareness of the issue within the community. During this presentation, attendees will learn about opiates and methamphetamines which have gained in popularity and negatively impacted our tribal communities. They will learn how drug abuse is affecting youth, to recognize behaviors that are associated with abuse, and what medical responses are necessary.

I was connected with Ray Gordon from RI, who works on the SCIP side with the RI SAA. He mentioned he was starting a SCIP newsletter and I met with him on the 24th of October via Zoom to discuss his ideas and vision for the newsletter as well as to see what type of guidance and support I could provide. He's still in the development phase but wants to include program highlights, organization spotlights, staff spotlights, and potentially advisory board meetings. Also, he wants it to tie back to a SCIP webpage housed on their website.

NCJP staff helped MN with a JAG stakeholder needs assessment survey around a year ago. The survey was created in collaboration, disseminated, and then a final report was analyzed and sent over. MN reached out again in September to request that we open the same survey again--specifically, they hoped to gain some additional responses for categories of stakeholders that had low response rates in the first round of survey responses. The survey was opened that month and closed December 31. Currently, the data is being analyzed, and a report is being drafted based on the results.
