The Baltimore, Maryland Police Department, as part of the Baltimore National Public Safety Partnership (PSP) site, requested travel support for representatives to attend the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys’ Safety and Justice Leadership Institute. BJA NTTAC provided travel support for one representative from the Baltimore PSP site to attend the event from December 5-6, 2020 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

From Lt. Ryan Bricker (I requested materials and possibly power points from Jennifer Schmidt back on May 1st. Most recently I received correspondence from Greg Mullins on June 10th. Mr. Mullins advised they are currently putting together the curriculum into a TTT Packet that will be provided to all who attended the TTT course, however it is still in draft form. He did send me a large file of the draft forms to begin reading which has been helpful. We don't plan on using the draft version until VALOR says everything is good and in its final version.)

Center staff Karen Otis met Keta Dickerson, who is the Dallas County Problem Solving Courts Manager, at the annual Community Courts Conference in Birmingham, AL in May 2018. Ms. Dickerson requested information about a potential speaker for a training on implicit bias, specifically Dr. Bryant T. Marks, Sr. Chief Equity Officer & Lead Trainer at the National Training Institute on Race and Equity (NTIRE). Ms. Otis provided Ms. Dickerson with Dr. Bryant's contact information and followed up with her to ensure they made contact. Center staff will continue to be available to Ms.

Center staff Karen Otis met Judge Elizabeth N. Rainey, who is the magistrate for the Midland County Drug Court in Midland, TX, at the annual NADCP conference in Houston, TX in June 2018. Judge Rainey requested information about performance measures for drug courts, and Ms. Otis sent Judge Rainey four of the Center's publications on this topic: "What Makes a Court Problem Solving?

Kelly Stoner and Bonnie Clairmont planned and provided a two day training. They discussed: the history, reauthorizations and provisions of the Tribal Law and Order Act and the Violence Against Women Act; VAWA SDVCJ implementation; protection orders and full faith and credit; and coordinated community response.

Kelly Stoner presented on the historical journey of the Tribal Law and Order Act (TLOA) enhanced sentencing and VAWA 2013’s Special Domestic Violence Criminal Jurisdiction. The presentation underscores how vital the exercise of SDVCJ and enhanced sentencing is to tribal sovereign judicial powers.

Kelly Stoner presented on the basics of civil and criminal jurisdiction in Oklahoma Indian country and described how Indian country jurisdictional issues may impact representation of clients in domestic and sexual violence cases, both of which included a discussion of VAWA Special Domestic Violence Criminal Jurisdiction and TLOA enhanced sentencing. Kelly also covered topics geared towards meeting the training needs of Oklahoma tribal domestic violence and sexual assault programs.
