Join the National Police Foundation, Major Cities Chiefs Association, and the Police Executive Research Forum for a COVID-19 briefing for law enforcement executives on Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. ET. The National Police Foundation (NPF), Major Cities Chiefs Association (MCCA), and the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) are collaborating together to provide a COVID-19 briefing for law enforcement executives from the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC’s) National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and Public Health Service (PHS).

This webinar, presented by cyber crime attorneys and a former prosecutor, discusses investigative uses of emojis, particularly in the context of child exploitation, and the legal context of this growing medium, including current case law and implications for practice.

Teen dating violence, also known as adolescent relationship abuse, is a serious, widespread issue that has both short- and long-term consequences. Teen dating violence may occur in-person or electronically and consists of physical, psychological, or sexual abuse, as well as stalking.

Family Justice Centers provide a “one-stop shop” for victims of family violence (intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and elder abuse). These co-located, multidisciplinary service centers reduce the number of places a victim must go to receive services following the crime. Services include, but are not limited to, assistance with protective orders, legal services, medical, counseling, safety planning, and more. This session will allow the audience to inquire about innovative practices within the Family Justice Center model.

Join the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the National Center for School Safety on Wednesday, January 29 at 1 p.m. ET for a webinar on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 Student, Teachers, and Officers Preventing (STOP) School Violence Program funding opportunity. The FY 2019 STOP School Violence Grant Program seeks to improve school security by equipping students and teachers with the tools they need to recognize, respond to, and help prevent acts of violence.

This two-and-a-half-day training—funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance and sponsored by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and AEquitas—will educate participants on how to identify victims of labor trafficking, as well as share best practices for investigating and prosecuting labor trafficking crimes.

Randy Udelman of the Arizona Crime Victim Rights Law Group will present on victim counsel coordination and offer a sample start-to-finish hypothetical case based on real facts—illustrating how to effectively meet victim needs in capital case prosecution.
