In Late January of 2015, APA received an oral inquiry regarding the possibility of APA providing the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office (here after JCPO) in Kansas City, Missouri with training and technical assistance to assist them in transitioning their office to a geographic or zone prosecution model. Thereafter, the JCPO submitted a formal request for assistance on in early February. Following its receipt, APA worked with that office to develop an agenda to meet their requested needs and settle on some dates for the visit. An agreed upon final agenda was completed prior to the visit. It included the following elements: a review of Jackson County's current state, discussion of other geogrpahic prosecution models in other jurisdictions (Philadelphia, Rockland Co., USAODC, Maricopa Co., Milwaukee Co., and Manhattan), brain storming sessions and issue identification,Data Integration & Information Sharing Session and Performance Measures for Prosecutor’s Offices
On March 10, 2015, the APA TTA team of Steven Jansen and Robert Hood traveled to Kansas City. Present for the sessions were Prosecutor Baker, her management team, and Professor Fox of the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Professor Fox is imbedded in the office on a part time basis as part of the KC NoVA effort.
