The site is looking to launch Credible Messenger programming, and was interested to learn more about the Newark Community Street Team and the training it uses.
The site has a large Native American population, so when IACP received notification of a new resource page aimed at supporting tribal you, we forwarded it to the site.
The site requested peer to peer support with setting up a Safe Passage program. IACP identified the graduated Seattle site, and the Nashville FY20 site, then facilitated a peer to peer exchange. Other BCJI sites were invited to listen in.
IACP worked with the site to develop a BCJI Bulletin Site Highlight on the site's victim follow-up program, and the site requested IACP to assess the possibility of turning it into a Police Chief Magazine article. The article does not align with any of the upcoming editions, but IACP staff will keep the topic under consideration for future editions.
After one of the site's block captains was murdered, and there was a string of murders outside the grantee's office, the site requested to speak with Aqeela Sherrills about how to keep the community engaged while keeping staff safe. IACP facilitated a call with the site and Mr. Sherrills.
The IACP POC facilitated a preliminary TA call with Aqeela Sherrills and the Town Watch Patrol on 9/7/2021 to prepare for the patrol meeting on 9/16/2021.
The site is looking to deveiop a community garden and requested peer support on the matter. IACP facilitated feedback from the Richmond and Philadelphia BCJI sites.
The site requested that IACP find, and forward a recording of the Reducing Violence, Restoring Confidence: A Conversation on Promoting Public Safety and Community Trust webinar. IACP staff contacted the host organization for a copy of the recording, then sent it to the site.
Partnership with the National Association of County Officials (NACo) throughout this project as part of the equity program to include hosting virtual and in-person working groups to not only address equity in financing within criminal justice services but also raise awareness of racial and ethnic disparities (RED) by SAAs and county officials, strengthen state and local efforts to reduce the prevalence of RED, and elevate best practices for addressing RED by producing recommendations for ensuring equity throughout the budgeting process.
