South Carolina Department of Public Safety is interested in using Byrne JAG funds to support Community Violence Intervention strategies and is requesting assistance from NCJA in language for solicitations and program implementation support. Meeting to discuss in more detail in January 2022. Met to discuss and have been suspended as SC determines strategic plan.

Tennessee Office of Criminal Justice Programs requested assistance to understand Community Violence Intervention Strategies so that they could determine if this was an area in which they would like to allocate Byrne JAG funding. NCJA provided them with information regarding different programming models including pros and cons of each model and the components they would need in order to make an informed decision regarding funding allocation

This event was hosted by the Office of Justice Programs in partnership with the National Gang Center and National Public Safety Partnership (PSP). In support of the Biden-Harris Administration’s comprehensive strategy to prevent and respond to gun crime and ensure public safety, DOJ is convening experts in a virtual listening session to help create a Community Violence Intervention (CVI) Implementation Checklist that will provide guidance and resources for jurisdictions seeking to implement comprehensive, community-based strategies for preventing violence.

The Middlesex County Sheriff's Office Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) site requested further training on interactions with criminal offenders as well as victims of these crimes. This request was referred to the PSN team.

San Francisco is implementing a unique program to reduce crime among young adults aged 18-25. This approach includes expanding services and alternative approaches for young people that contact San Francisco’s justice system. Since the program is new, the site team would like to speak with other agencies who have implemented similar efforts so they can discuss challenges they face and proactively troubleshoot what they anticipate may be upcoming challenges.
